About

Me

I’m the Network Manager for the UNT College of Music and an iOS Developer. I post tech stuff about iOS and Apple sysadmin topics… but anything I find interesting is fair game too. I like music, cooking, the outdoors, and spending time with my wife and two kids.

I started programming in high school with Basic and Pascal on an Apple //e , but eventually wound up on the networking end of things. I think this was largely due to running coax LAN parties back in the days of Doom and Quake I. In fact, my first IT job with a real company was doing intranet support (good ole Netware IPX days!) for AOL Time Warner solely to buy the then revolutionary Diamond Monster 3D card with a whopping 4MB video ram. GLQuake was mine! And incidentally, while working in the job I found that I really liked problem solving and networking stuff too!

In my present life, I’ve worked at UNT since 1998, and for the last 10 years have been the Network Manager for the UNT College of Music in Denton, Texas. It’s the largest music institution in the U.S. based on enrollment and we’ve always been Mac-majority when it comes to user computing.

I’ve used various computers with win/linux/System 8-OS 9 until OS X 10.0 Cheetah came out… since fall 2001 I’ve been Mac for all personal and work stuff.
